Which city’s architecture do you love?
Copenhagen!! I’m a general sucker for some Scandinavian design in this world, but that city takes it to a new level. What they’ve created along Copenhagen Harbour is absolutely iconic and that’s immediately flanked by the iconically colorful and lovely Nyhavn. And the best part is the architecture complements the danish culture so well, you just feel like the city is just meant to be the way it is.
What would a 43Places team community center be like?
If 43Places created a team community center, this place would be absolutely amazing. It would be called “The Station” and its purpose would be to support, serve, educate, and uplift. It would be flooded with natural light, coated in rich sustainable materials, and be flexible enough to support both small and large gatherings / events. The music would be amazing and guest chefs would regularly stop by to provide food. There would be a donation center on site, an art gallery, a community garden and event space on the roof, and the building would generate enough electricity to feed back to the grid. Flanked by exterior patios and gathering spaces, The Station is a supportive member of the community, open and accessible around the clock.
Who are your creative muses?
BIG Architects. They are not only making design joyful and playful, but they’re also addressing the existential questions and suggesting a new way of doing things. They’re trans-disciplinary and I’ve gone on literally pilgrimages to see their work in person. They’re awesome!
